Training and Experience

I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on epidemiology and biostatistics. I have decades of experience working at the intersection of public health and mental health.

My training and education in psychology focused primarily on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theory and models of treatment. My dissertation explored Donald Winnicott’s theory of subjectivity as a framework for understanding certain aspects of identity formation—reflecting a long-standing interest in the complexity of inner life and identity.

My professional experience as a psychologist includes work in correctional facilities and other forensic settings, inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private practice. I also teach graduate level courses on law and ethics, social issues, and contemporary psychoanalytic theory. I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Wisconsin and also in California.
